The Battlefield 1 Rant!

Hey guys, BammHavoc here.

Today I have a not so happy video for you, that is probably going to make you have a not so happy day, once you hear what I have to say.

Battlefield 1 is going to suck!

Ok, so before you rage comment down below, just hear me out for like 5 mins. Then feel free to comment away as much as you want. Tell me why I’m wrong, or if you agree.

Sadly, to me Battlefield 1 looks like a reskinned Battlefield 4, just like Hardline and Star Wars:Battle Front, using the same engine as the older games… Frostbite 3. So nothing really new, just the time period of which we do battle with one another.
To me this looks like what Activision did with the Call of Duty-franchise, the whole “strip it down and part it out, slap a new coat of paint on it”-thing, all just to make a quick buck. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with this approach, bills gotta get paid and developers gotta eat, but don’t piss on me and call it rain, EA; Come on DICE, you guys are better than this.
Believe it or not, I’m not here to rip on the graphics, the rehashed/reskinned game or the same tired old gameplay since the Bad Company series. Or compare it to CoD… FTS.

I’m here to tell you guys that Battlefield 1 is going to suck because it is going to launch as a broken game. Do not buy it.

“WTF! Bullshit Bamm! Go take your head for a shit, you noob!”

Ok, so here is the rub….
⦿ Battlefield 3 launched as a broken game. Fixed after a huge outcry from the fans.
⦿ Battlefield 4 launched as a broken game. It got fixed… just barely. And Battlelog is still broken.
Do you see the pattern here? I bet I can even call out what will be broken when BF1 is launched

Broken gear and weapons due to improper vetting and game testing making the game unbearable to play. Lag issues of course, netcode obviously and that dude that floats around on his butt for three quarters of the match.
Basically what I’m trying to say is EA only wants your money and I don’t think they will spring any more cash to fix what is already broken in BF3, BF4, BF:HL, or SW:BF, and the soon-to-be BF1 will suffer as DICE won’t develop BF1 any further than what they already have!
DICE is already working on their new project(s). Yes guys, EA and DICE have already moved on, as BF1 is complete. The upcoming betas will be the completed game, and will be used as an advertising piece to sell more copies – god forbid a beta looks like shit. Might get a shitty review on YouTube and then have have go through the effort of silencing the reviewers via YouTube’s terrible copyright strike system.

Speaking of YouTube… The Big 5 Battlefield YouTubers Jack Frags, FrankieonPC, LevelCap, Matimi0, and TheRussianBadger will all most likely show Battlefield 1 in a good light and post videos of themselves having loads of fun playing BF1 prior launch. This is perfect advertising for EA and DICE and their new game, which is just BF4 in a pretty frock.

Just let that sink in for a few moments folks…

Now, before you shoot me down and tell me to go back and take my head for another shit.
I am not saying anyone from the Big 5 are on the take from EA or DICE; at least I hope not.
What I’m saying is, the Big 5, like many other players, are very excited about the new Battlefield, the excitement is infectious and this excitement can reach up to 15 million viewers.
Tickets to the hype train are free and it is hard to get off once you get on: Just remember what happened with BF4. Remember the hype? Remember the hype for Hardline? Remember the hype for Battlefront? Once you fork over your hard earned dib dobs and realise BF1 is a bag of unsorted rusty bolts it is too late.
The YouTubers that have been given early access to BF1 are going to show gameplay footage of themselves enjoying the game, this has the opportunity to persuade their fans and others to buy the game. Again, I am sure the Big 5 aren’t on the take from DICE or EA, but it is essentially free advertising for BF1: This has already happened with HL, SW:BF, and BF4.

So a quick recap: Battlefield 1 will launch as a broken game because EA and DICE will not invest into fixing what is already broken with Frostbite 3.

Improper game testing will give us a poorly balanced game that will be a frustrating tangled mess of christmas tree lights.
Betas that are not betas, because you can’t show a beta as a beta, it might show your game in a poor light and you might lose sales. Youtubers being used as strategic marketing tools for EA through exclusive gameplay footage and so on.
Lag and net coding problems that should have been sorted out during the supposed aforementioned beta, but wasn’t because reasons.
Blah, Blah,Blah… the list goes on, but these are the main points.

Essentially the point is, EA is not willing to send anymore money down the pipes than they have to, but it is okay for you and me to spend our beer and bacon tokens on their broken games. Something is not right with this picture.

I am just tired of seeing the same old shit time and time again, the hype train getting fueled by our excitement, the promises not being kept thanks to whatever reason the devs pull out of their hats, the hype train making us all blind to the warning signs that become obvious after we buy the game. And don’t get me started on the Premium Access debacle, that is still ongoing.

That’s it guys and girls, enough doom speak from me, thanks for taking the time out of your day to listen to me rant. A slightly cynical, somewhat jaded BammHavoc here.

Love you all, Beer and Bacon for the win, cheers guys thanks.
